Goodness! I'd say "Welcome to alt.polyamory!" -- and I will -- but such
an introduction kinda cries out for... for.... for a more, um,
poetical-type response.

Good martian newbie, hail, well met!
(Has Aahz posted a welcome yet?
If not, he will in just a minute.)
This place is glad to have you in it,
So do come in, sit down, relax,
And help yourself to all the snacks.
(You may have seen us act like dorks,
And quibble over spoons and forks,
But mostly we are pretty harmless,
if now and then a little charmless.)

Your poem is lovely, and well packed
With hints of many an arcane fact --
If you're a hermit, please don't fret.
There's herd of them 'round here. We get
All sorts of folks, some new to poly,
And some old hands. (I own, it's jolly
Hearing from one not so new,
Though I've learned much from neos, too.)
Your tagline indicates that you
Might well enjoy this crazy zoo.

By that I mean that "intellectual"
Is quite a common preference (sexual,
I mean) round here. Oh, I don't mean
To make you blush, or cause a scene,
But you should know: a brainy martian
May have to fend off acts of darshan.
And writing songs can be quite risky --
we've got Marines, guitars, and whiskey!
But fear us not. We shan't be churls.
We'll be real nice, us *and* our squirrels.

There's just one thing - your introduction
Moves me to make a strange deduction
and wonder if you're lycanthropic?
(No really, honest, it's on-topic!)
You say "musician," and "songwriter"
But if the moon is shining brighter
Are you the kind that turns to poet?
Some folkies shapeshift. (Don't I know it?!)
Hey, can we watch when you rehearse,
to see you go from bard to verse?

Well, I sure hope you come back after reading this silly post.... ‹grin›

Elise,
happy to greet a new person

P.S. Welcome to alt.polyamory!
